IRON TANGO CRETE

We are looking forward to dancing with you for a second time in this special place – a magical place with a dance terrace overlooking the sea, a wonderful beach, turquoise-blue water and delicious food in cosy tavernas, all set in a small, idyllic and intimate bay without hotel complexes in the south of the island of Crete.
During this week, the focus is on dancing. During the day, there will be practicas and time to practise. Those who like can get inspiration and ideas from Carsta to work on. In the evenings, we dance at the milonga.

The beach, with its sunny spots and plenty of shade, invites you to relax and simply do nothing – after all, there should also be plenty of time for holidays and relaxation.

Would you like to join us? Then sign up 🙂

If you are wondering about the name and don’t know IRON Tango yet: We started with our first IRON TANGO in Dresden in 2016. Since Alex’s metal workshop in the barn is also used for the event, the name IRON Tango was born. IRON Tango Crete is your time out, with plenty of time to share experiences together, extend the summer with the beach and sea right outside the door and, of course, TANGO..

At Athanasia and Stelios at Voukelari the milongas and praktikas take place.

You stay at Voukelari – all rooms with  terrace and mostly sea view.

During this week, breakfast together and 2 dinners together at Voukelari will also be included as a fixed part of the programme.

For breakfast at Voukelari, you can look forward to a very generous and, above all, delicious selection with various pancakes, different Greek cheeses, olives, bread, egg dishes, Greek yoghurt, wonderful Greek tomatoes, at least 2 or 3 kinds of homemade jam, freshly squeezed orange juice, melon and other fruit, and much more.

After breakfast, we start with the practica. In the afternoons, there is time for the beach and excursions.

For dinner, you can look forward to at least 3–4 warm and/or cold Greek starters, at least 2–3 main dishes and a dessert. Greek house wine and water are also included.

If you would like to arrive earlier or leave later, please mention this in your registration form. We will then make a specific enquiry for you. There will be another group staying there before us, and the La Milonga holiday week starts immediately afterwards. So only a few rooms may be available – if any at all.

Directions

By car from the airport to Voukelari – just click on the picture and you will get to the route.
You can also take the bus to Plakias. Then you have to change buses in Rhethymnon. Maybe I can add to this route.
A cab costs about 140€ per trip. That is already half a car rental.

Bus connection from the airport to Plakias

-> Airport bus towards Heraklion City / KTEL Bus Station (approx. 20 minutes travel time – frequency every 20 minutes)
->
Intercity bus from Heraklion – route: Heraklion – Rethymnon (approx. 1 h 15 min travel time – frequency approx. hourly – operator KTEL)
-> Change buses – route: Rethymnon – Plakias (travel time approx. 1 h 20 min – frequency approx. 3 buses per day: morning, midday, late afternoon)
Apparently there are no bus numbers; you travel according to the destination.

Victor, who also works at the beach with Stelios, is also happy to drive you to the airport. This is a little cheaper than a taxi – I think between €100 and €110.
